Creating Data Points

Point Creation Process:
  1. Click the tool button to open the tools panel
  2. Click the Company Data tab
  3. Click “Create Point” in Company Data Tools
  4. Click on the map where you want to place the data point
  5. Fill in the data form with your  information:
  • Label - identifier for the point that will show in the map
  • Custom Fields - Your company’s configured data fields
  • Point Style - deciding what the point looks like in the map 
  1. Save - Point appears on map immediately to all users from your company, it will also be searchable using the Search option when Company Data is selected as the search type
Automatic Metadata:
  • Creation date and user
  • Last edited date and user
  • Coordinate information (derived from map click location)

Editing Existing Points

Modification Process:
  1. Open the Tools Panel
  2. Click the Company Data Tab
  3. Click “Edit Point” tool
  4. Click the point you want to modify in the map
  5. Update information in the form
  6. Click “Save” changes
 

Managing Company Data Points

Data Organization:
  • Use consistent naming for labels
  • Include key project identifiers in main fields
  • Consider sorting and filtering needs
  • Consider styling of points so they are readable in the map
  • Plan for long-term data management
Deleting Points:
  • Use the delete option in the Edit Point step above
  • Permanently removes the point and all associated data
  • Cannot be undone

Searching Data Points

Once a company data point is created, any attribute recorded against the point is searchable in the search field, when a search type of company data is selected.

To search for a company data point:

  1. Choose Company Data as the search type from the search dropdown
  2. Enter any text included in the label or textual fields for the company data
  3. Click on the result that you want
  4. The map will pan to this location and highlight the label for this company data point.

Pin current projects to search bar

Searching for company data points is a quick and easy way to navigate through a list of projects you are currently working on, it is also worth considering this functionality in combination with the pinned search result to easily navigate to a list of active projects.

Steps to pin a company data point to the search bar

  1. Select Company Data as the search type
  2. Enter your search term
  3. Click on your desired Company Data point
  4. Clear our text from the search field
  5. Click the pin button next to your company data point

Once you have completed the above steps, this Company Data Point will be available every time you click inside the search bar, so that you can easily navigate to your current projects. Simply unpin the search when it is no longer an active project.
