Company Data - Setup & Configuration
Discover essential steps for effectively setting up your company data to gain visibility of projects while working in GRIP
Overview of Company Data
Company Data allows you to create custom data points with business-specific information attached to map features. This is powerful for tracking project information, particularly if you want to find related projects in the area you are working when you head back years later. Imagine seeing all this context when you start work on a project nearby.

Prerequisites

Administrative Requirements:
- Your company admin must configure data fields in Account Settings and can only be undertaken by Admin users
- Fields can be named whatever you like, some customers like to include: project names, client details, phone numbers, websites
- Up to 10 custom fields available per company
- If you have an existing data file that you would like loaded then get in touch (contact@grip.co.nz) and we can load it in for you
Planning Your Data Structure
Field Setup Considerations:
- In addition to the fields showing in the screenshot above, there is a mandataory label field for each point, this is the label that will be shown in the map.
- Each field requires a descriptive name
- Link fields can contain clickable URLs - toggle the Link option in the column to make links clickable from within GRIP
- Active fields appear in GRIP’s interface
- Changing the names of fields will not change data already in the app, if you need to re-order fields you are best fo contact us to obtain a full copy of your data, configure it as provided, and request a re-upload.
Company Data Setup

Field Configuration:
- Go to the Company Data tab in Account Settings
- For as many fields as you would like, e.g. field (1-10):
- Enter a descriptive Field Name
- Check Link if the field will contain URLs
- Check Active to make the field available in GRIP,
- Click Apply to save your configuration
Initial Upload of Company Data
Contact us at contact@grip.co.nz to arrange an initial upload of your company data, we can support most spatial data formats from CSVs, to shapefiles, to DXFs, to Microsoft Access Databases - we can support you through the process of moving from an existing provider.
Download of Company Data
Contact us at contact@grip.co.nz to arrange a download of your company data, we are happy to provide this at no cost from time to time.
