  7. Quick answers

1  See your firm’s points

Company data is a layer. Open Layer Control and click Company Data to switch it on. Points draw once you are zoomed in to street level.

Company Data on: each point with its label.

Good to know  Only your firm sees these points. The fields they carry are set up once by your account administrator: see Company Data - Setup & Configuration.

2  Read a point

With selecting on — the lit i on the toolbar — click a point. Its label, your firm’s fields, and who created and last edited it open in the panel. A field set up as a link is clickable.

3  Add a point

Open Tools — the spanner on the toolbar — and click the Company Data tab.

Company Data Tools: Create Point and Edit Point.

Figure 4. Company Data Tools: Create Point and Edit Point.
  1. Click Create Point.
  2. Click the map where the point belongs.
  3. Type the Label — what shows on the map, usually the job number — and fill in your firm’s fields.
  4. Choose how it looks: label colour and text height, symbol type, colour and size.
  5. Click Save. The point is on the map for everyone in your firm straight away, and searchable.

Adding a point: click the map, then fill in the form.

Figure 5. Adding a point: click the map, then fill in the form.
  Field What it is
Label What shows on the map. Required.
Your firm’s fields Whatever your administrator has set up — here Client, Status and Project folder.
Label Colour, Label Text Height How the label reads on the map.
Symbol Type, Colour, Size A circle, or none, and how it looks.
Tip  Use colour for status or type — green for complete, orange for booked — and the map tells you where things stand without a click.

4  Edit or delete a point

  1. Open Tools › Company Data and click Edit Point.
  2. Click the point on the map. Its form opens with what is recorded.
  3. Change what you need and click Save — or Delete to remove the point.

Editing a point: the same form, filled in, with Delete.

Figure 6. Editing a point: the same form, filled in, with Delete.
Note  Delete removes the point and everything recorded against it, for everyone in your firm. It cannot be undone.

5  Find a point

Set the search type to Company Data and type any part of a label or of anything typed into a field — a job number, a client’s name, a status.

Searching company data: every point whose label or fields match.

Figure 7. Searching company data: every point whose label or fields match.
Good to know  Suggestions start after four characters. For a label of three characters or fewer, type it and press Enter for a full search.

6  Pin the jobs you are working on

After you have searched for a job, click in the empty search box: it is at the top of your recent searches. Click the pin beside it and it stays there — one click back to the site, every time you open GRIP.

7  Quick answers

I cannot see any points.

Switch Company Data on in Layer Control, and zoom in to street level.

The form has no fields except Label.

Your administrator has not set any fields up, or none is Active. See Company Data - Setup & Configuration.

Clicking a point opens the parcel instead.

Turn Parcels off in the buttons at the top of the info panel, then click the point.

Can we load all our old jobs at once?

Yes. Email support@grip.co.nz with a spreadsheet or a spatial file and we will load it.

Setting up the fields is in Company Data - Setup & Configuration.
